Tank Day 2010-10-25

Sometimes when you have a good idea .......................... 32,000 litre tank, 50% more water but costs only 20% more! Read the fine print ........... tank requires a 5 metre deep hole!

See the days action here - Installing underground concrete tank.
You will note a lot of crossed arms discussion times in the video, as decisions are made as how to proceed.

Concerns even at this early stage about the unstable fill.

3 piece tank arrives.

Camera tower at full reach. Unfortunately I didn't capture the truck being loaded in the side lane.

The soil profile on our block has created a few problems with the tank installation. The 2+ metres of river (creek) sand fill is very unstable and keeps collapsing into the (5M deep) hole. The water has not proved to be as big a problem as first thought. The contractor has had to remove a large amount of material just to keep things a bit safe. At about 3PM work had to be halted until a large piece of shoring equipment could be transported to the site from Melbourne.
