The exhibition runs until the 25th of June - Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays, 12-6pm
"The collective As You Were Saying presents an exhibition playing with communication and creativity in everyday situations. You Were Going To is an exhibition showing works made in situ that capture the event of collaboration, eating, drinking and conversation.
The artists - Claire Best, Jessica Crowe and Melissa Deerson - look at the sparks that are generated by unexpected connections between groups, individuals and the creative urge. As You Were Saying re-imagines the life of the city and its people in pen and ink drawings, documentations and collections that are in turn beautiful, dark, absurd and witty. Unafraid to hang out in the trophy room of dad jokes and the dive bars of bad taste, these artists see themselves as translators and soothsayers, interested in taking the minutiae of everyday and finding kernels of the extraordinary." A combination of talent, time, food and convivial drinks produced this collection and a little help from the City of Melbourne and the Janet Holmes a' Court Artists Grant.
The drawing Table was busy all night. Not sure if it was the cheezels and twisties that kept them at or everyone who attended had hidden drawing talents
.
These gate crashers arrived late in the piece to promote their show at the theater upstairs.
